NASA-GSFC Optical Communications Facilities:
- Space Laser Assembly Cleanroom (SLAC) - 1500 square foot Class 1000 clean room including Wet/Precision Cleaning Room, Laser Assembly Room with two optical tables and associated test equipment, Thermal-Vacuum Chamber testing.
- Laser, Detector and Electronics laboratories including Electronics Lab, Solid-State Amplifier Lab, Pump Laser Diode Pump Vacuum Testing Lab, Pump Laser Diode Air Testing Lab, Extended Laser Performance Characterization Lab, Fiber Amplifier Lab Solid State Laser Lab, Fiber Laser & Amplifier Lab, Lidar Detector Lab, Lidar Reciever Lab, Photon-counting Detector Lab, Laser Test Range Lab
- Direct-Write 1 mJ femtosecond laser for waveguide fabrication, laser packaging, bonding, welding facility.
- 1.5 km one-way distance tall-tower open-path laser propagation test range
- 1.2 meter telescope Low-Earth-Orbit-slew-rate-capable satellite-tracking laser ground-station
- 0.4 meter telescope Low-Earth-Orbit-slew-rate-capable satellite-tracking laser ground-station
- Two 1-meter diameter thermal vacuum chambers with cryo-pumps for high-vacuum testing
- 5000 square foot Space flight laser communications modem assembly and testing laboratory.
- Multi-gigabit optical communications test equipment.
